So true! The chirping of birds woke me up at 5:30 this morning – on a Saturday – and I loved it. I share in their excitement that Spring is finally here. After our winter from hell, I think all Minnesotans do! Spring is my absolute favorite time of year to run – nothing feels better than coolish running weather, but with warm sun falling on my pasty-white winter face. Plus, knowing that there are still two more seasons of decent running weather ahead before snow falls is the best. Spring running makes me happy and hopeful. Love, love, love it.
I had the best run yesterday since July. 7 miles at 8:20 pace average, with 3 x 2 minutes at 7:20 pace. The non-speedy miles were at 8:25 pace, which felt good – finally! Felt like a real workout. I can feel the body starting to get back in shape. I’ve been doing most of my runs really slow – like 9:15 – 9:45 pace. But the distance has been gradually increasing on one run a week, with my “long” run this week being 9 miles. SO fun!
I stumbled on a quote this week by Walt Whitman that I absolutely love: “Keep your face always towards the sunshine and the shadows will fall behind you.” Life has been challenging lately and it’s a good reminder to try to remain positive.
