I can’t decide if PT is super helpful or whether it’s a load of BS. Every time I go, it seems like they find new things wrong with me. New ways that I’m not flexible. New ways that I’m positioning my body weird. New ways I’m off balance. Blah blah blah.
So today it was my ankles. They are super tight. He did this measure thing and I was a 5 (cm?) on my left ankle (the injured side) and an 8 (cm?) on my right ankle. Apparently “normal” runners are about 12. So what does this mean? I honestly don’t know. I was too tired today to ask many questions. But I now have ankle stretches to add to my ever growing list of strength and stretch and flexibility exercises that I need to do daily. If I do all of them as prescribed, it takes me just as long as I was running every morning. Somehow it’s a lot harder to set my alarm for 4:00 a.m. to do ankle stretches. Sigh.
Good news – I’ve been out of the boot for 4 days and actually feeling pretty darn good. Not ready to run, but much better. Baby steps.
Some PT ‘s are similar to chiropracters in my humble opinion,if there isn’t a problem they will find one to treat. But some are very good. You need to find one you like and tell him/her to stay focused on fixing the problem you have,i.e. stess fracture ,rather than trying to turn you into a utopian runnur with everything perfect. This person has you dealing with too many periphial things.
But thats just me.

Go see Chris Bailey at TCO in Edina…..he is fantastic and a former collegiate athlete so he understands our mentality. (I agree their are alot of PT’s that give themselves bad names but when you find a good one its great!)
