Nearly everything about today’s workout sucked. I didn’t hit my paces. I didn’t hit the number of repeats that I was supposed to do. It was slippery. It was cold. I was tired. My legs were heavy. My lungs felt like they were going to explode. My heart rate was too high. I got honked at (in a mean way) by 3 cars. And I eventually called it quits, cut the run short and went home.
What didn’t suck about today’s workout was that I was running. And for that – for every step that I run – I am thankful.

Less than six weeks til Phoenix. A few things that I’m supposed to start working on:
Getting naked and sweating my ass off with fat old ladies. (a/k/a – 20 minute saunas, 2 or 3 times a week to start firing the sweating mechanisms in case phoenix ends up warm; won’t ANYTHING seem warm compared to 20 below zero??) I will also be working on the sweating thing in warm, sunny Florida in 2 weeks!
Hydrating. Already. Note to self: contact Coach MG and clarify whether he meant with beer and red wine.
Sleep. Ok – coach didn’t say this. I’m saying it. I’ve been too busy with life and work and running. My sleep has not been optimal. Gonna try to be better.
Core. I was doing great at the beginning. Then slacked. I’m picking it back up now. I think I have time to make the core stronger.

So on that note, I’m off to hydrate a bit with a large glass of pinot before turning in early!
🙂
Yup, sometimes it sucks. But then it doesn’t. 🙂
