Book Give Away: Running The Edge (NEW edition!)

I told you last week that I’d have an exciting give away soon.  Wait no more.  Here’s the big announcement you’ve all been eagerly anticipating.

I have an autographed copy of the BRAND NEW edition of Running The Edge to give away to one lucky blog reader (and since I’m pretty sure that I only have 5 blog readers, your chances of winning are pretty darn good!).   This is exciting news, folks.  This new edition isn’t even available for shipping til September 1st.  But since I stalk am BFFs with authors Adam Goucher and Tim Catalano, I have an autographed copy in my hands right now!

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, you know that I LOVE this book.  My original review of the original edition of Running the Edge can be found here.  I think why I love this book so much is (as you all know) that I’m a sucker for things that help me find deeper meaning, inspiration and ways to improve myself and my life, not just my running.  And Running the Edge is all about that.  You can find my review of Adam and Tim’s Running the Edge Presentation at Grandma’s Marathon here.

Plus, the authors are charming, good looking and runners – an unbeatable combination.

Adam Goucher, me and Tim Catalano

If you haven’t read this book yet, now is your chance!  You will LOVE it!

How do you get in on the drawing for this book?  Easy.  Just leave a comment on this post or on my facebook page or shoot me an email and let me know you want in on this exciting opportunity.*  I’m not gonna make you “like” this blog or follow it or answer a complicated question – I hate giveaways like that.  I’ll leave the drawing open until noon on Wednesday August 29, 2012 at which time I’ll draw the name of one lucky winner and mail it that day so that it is in your hands before the masses can get it in print on September 1st.

*Since I’m a lawyer, I feel like I should have a disclaimer in fine print here.  But I guess the only rule I can think of is one entry per person. Don’t be greedy. 🙂

Pick me, pick me! I would love a copy of whatever inspired you! I need to dig deeper for this running thing! Ha!

  2. Is this one any different than the first one? BTW – I think is is awesome and epic that you convinced them to give you an autographed book to give away. Did you get one for yourself to keep too? 😉

    1. I think just the cover and maybe the intro are different. Nothing substantive. I think they were scared that I would continue stalking them and harassing them and so they felt like they needed to give me something to pacify me while they get a restraining order against me. 🙂 I already have three copies of their book, one is autographed!

I’d love a copy of the Running the Edge. I have a read parts of it, when my daughter didn’t have a death grip on it. It must be a great book, she has read it a million times.

I have been a fan of Kara’s for a lot less time than most. However, I will say that she has helped inspire me to keep pushing thru the obsticals that have stood in my way thru my athletic journey. I have huge dreams, and seeing her persevere has shown me that if she can do it, then I can too. Since that book came out, I have wanted a copy… To have autographed one…. That would be more than a blessing. So… Please put me in for the drawing!

    God bless,
    Jamie Barnhart

I really want to win this book. I am running the edge by returning to ultrarunning after a 7 year absence. Ran a 50K last year and will run it again this year. My goal is to finish a 100 mile race in about two years.

  12. Kristy Black

  13. Adam Bricker

  14. Alisa Polzin

Ever since I started running sophomore year of high school, I have fallen in love with the sport! More importantly, it has helped me start to lead a healthier lifestyle in general. Getting a copy of this book, especially one signed by Adam Goucher (Running With The Buffaloes), would be pretty cool!

  15. ricardo pramis sierra jr

  16. Kimberly J. Rooney

I just finished 14Minutes and I’m soooo excited for this to come out and I would love the autographed copy. Although I must admit, autographs and all it won’t be sitting on my shelf in mint condition. It’d probably be read daily on my train commute and then lent to a friend when I was done. 🙂

  17. Silvia Angulo

I would love love love to read this amazing book. Thanks so much for the opportunity 🙂
    Cheers!!!

    Silvia

  18. I would love a copy of the book! I’m a long time runner who in the past couple of years have started ultra running and I know I’ll still get a lot out of the book!

  19. This is perfect timing. I’m about to try and run my first marathon in late October (Atlanta) and I am currently bouncing back from a stress fracture. My first long run since the injury is this Saturday, and I know that the race is going to be tough. Since I broke myself, I took away my initial time goal and just made it my goal to finish without embarrassing myself horribly, but I feel like I’m going to need all the help and good advice that I can get. It would be great to read words of wisdom from the pros!

  20. Adele

Pick me!! I’ve been wanting to read this and I haven’t gathered up my cash yet.. Lol..
Signed by Adam Goucher AND Tim Catalano makes it worth a million bucks to me!

  21. Vicki O'Halloran

I would love a cope of this book! I am currently running across Oregon and the quotes posted on the Run the Edge Facebook page have truly helped me continue on! I have been running 13 miles a day, 6 days a week for 23 days and have one more week until I reach the Border!!

  22. Dave Symington

Hi… That’s quite the offer, please put my name in the hat.
You ‘ve convinced me to buy a copy, that’s the direction I going in my running and spiritual quest. (I have always been closer with God and the universe on my Sunday long runs than in a scripted church service, and the music is better)
Now, in my third year of yoga (no, I haven’t studied in India, American Indians though) and thanks to some wonderful people in my social media network, I’m still evolving. Heck, who wouldn’t like a new book signed by the authers.
    Be well!
    ds

  23. Sounds like an interesting book…Please put me in the drawing. I love to read…I love inspiration…I have been walking/running for 2 years but only seriously trying to run for 8 months. Do I love running…NO, but it sure helps me clear my head. HA…my body doesn’t love any kind of exercise, but it needs it, so I choose to run.

  24. christine holmes

I am training for my first marathon and I am just now working thru an injury. It has kept me from running the last week and a half just when I am supposed up my mileage. I would love a copy of the book for encouragement. Thanks

There once was a runner named Matt,
Whose readers thought she was all that –
    Since this comment is king,
If she does the right thing,
She’ll be sending my book out, stat.

  28. Jany

I haven’t read the book yet, but I’ve seen a couple of the quotes posted, which have been really inspiring.. I would love a copy.. Please pick me! 🙂

  29. Marjolein Baas

I would love a copy! I am a single mom of a 12 year old girl, and I have been running for over 20 years (got initially inspired because I started physical therapy school and I wanted to bring exercise physiology to the test to see if training really works the way science says it does). I love running with a passion, I still have all these big dreams of one day running Western States 100 and Leadville, but I haven’t gotten any further than some local 50 Kilometer runs…..I need some inspiration!! Thanks for reading this!

  30. Kerry Stubbs

I’ve been running for almost 3 years. I used to think I could never run a 5K. This year I finished a 15K. I’d love a copy of this book, too!

  37. Teri Byrne

    Hi Cindy,
I read your Blog all the time, but this is the first time I’ve posted.
We have a lot in common; I used to run, still ride bikes (did a few 50 milers and love to read or see things that inspire me to improve my life and let me see how to help others.
Keep up the great writing & riding…….

  38. Patti Canchola

Since I’ve started running (Les than as year ago) I’m already trading for my first half marathon…..yo uncover more of yourself that you never knew existed….

  39. Matt

Well, it would appear you have more than 5 readers. 🙂 I would definitely like to throw my virtual hat in the ring for the book as well!

  40. Allison

Would love to read this book! Need a new running book to read after finishing “Born to Run”
Thanks for giving a copy away 🙂

  41. Pat Smith

I need this. Read the first edition and it’s definitely time to revisit it. I’m planning to run/walk a thousand miles (as well as bike 1,000 miles and swim 100 miles) over the course of 2013 to honor the beginning of my 7th decade and need all the inspiration I can get!
