Hello from Duluth!
Full report later, but I wanted to take the advice of my BFF’s Adam Goucher and Tim Catalano, authors of Running the Edge, and pop on the blog and make my race goal public. (Remember Adam and Tim, two of my biggest fans, who commented once on my blog only because I gave their book a kick-ass (unsolicited) review regularly read my blog??)
Anyway, I listened to them speak today and it was very inspiring. They talked alot about the thing I just blogged about yesterday – getting from Point A to Point B. I’ll give the full report later. But one of their pieces of advice was to make your goal public – to hold yourself accountable, inspire and motivate yourself. They also said not to say it like “I want to run an X:XX”, but to say it like you mean it “I WILL run an X:XX”. I know lots of bloggers and others who keep their goals private, for fear of failure, of disappointing The World, etc. I typically always throw my goal time out there for my 5 followers to know. But I also typically have a Secret-Best-Day-What-I-Really-Want Goal.
Well before listening to Adam and Tim talk, I would have told you my goal for the half marathon tomorrow is 1:40:00. But after listening to them talk, I decided to make my Secret-Best-Day-What-I-Really-Want Goal public. So, without further ado:
I WILL run a 1:38:00 tomorrow. 🙂
Stay tuned.
Good luck tomorrow! Go get that 1:38!!!!!!!!!!!!
