One Step at a Time

Today’s meditation from my daily meditation book:

One step at a time.  That’s how you will get where you are going.  You are being led, each step of the way.

Love it!  For life, it is a good reminder for me to relax, have faith and remember that even though I have a vision of where I want to be, I’m not going to get there in one giant leap.  I need to take baby steps and just trust that they will lead me to where I want to be.

I love it, even more, for running.  I think we sabotage ourselves in races, particularly the marathon, when we look too far ahead to the finish line.  If we start thinking, at mile one, “Uggg, I have TWENTY FIVE more miles to go”, we are doomed.  Instead, I’ve found that the key to finishing a strong marathon is to focus on the present.  One mile at a time.  One step at a time.

So today, my focus will be on just dealing with things one step at a time.  Starting with walking over to Caribou and getting myself a large latte and a blueberry muffin.  🙂
