I heard Here Comes The Sun this morning (my absolute favorite Beatles song; instant good mood when I hear it played).
Here comes the sun (du dn du du)
Here comes the sun
And I say
Its been a long cold lonely winter
It seems like years since it’s been here
And, as I listened to it, it struck me that the song fits with where I’m at right now. It’s been a long, cold lonely winter for me, for sure. Not in the temperature cold sense, because we’ve been incredibly lucky with an unbelievable warm and snow-free Minnesota winter. But the past months have definitely been long and cold and lonely in terms of life and relationships and more. But, like I said last week, I’m starting to feel more balanced. I’m getting through some major work stress (2 trials down, 2 more to go). Yesterday was, literally, the first day that I didn’t work since Christmas Day! And I’m continuing to get out more and keep busy with fun things. This week I have Girls 10 dinner, a work happy hour and another happy hour with a no-longer-new friend. 3 outings in one week, I’m getting crazy, I know! 🙂
I also slept in on Saturday til 8:30 a.m., which I NEVER do (10.5 hours of sleep!). Guess I was tired from working 54 days in a row!
And the best part about yesterday? I treated myself to a new bright pink Coach purse. If that doesn’t bring some sun into my life, I don’t know what will! 🙂
My long run yesterday was the best. It was mid-day, which I rarely ever do. And it was 30 and sunny and gorgeous. Just me and my thoughts for 16 miles. Loved every minute of it!
In other running news, I threw my name in for Grandma’s Half lottery this week. Anyone else hoping to get in? I think we find out February 27th.
I also registered for the 100% Irish 10 mile, which is March 10th. 10 miles seems like the perfect racing distance! Not so short that you have to kill yourself on the pace, but not so long that you really get worn out. Plus, free beer afterwards. 🙂
Training this week went better than I thought it would, considering I had a major trial on Friday that I was prepping for with insanely long hours all week. Still haven’t been able to ramp up the weights or the cross training. But the miles and the quality are there and I’m feeling fast and strong and good!
