Registration opened for Chicago Marathon today.  It’s October 7, 2012.  I’m officially in!  Woot!  Pretty much everyone from the running group is doing it, so I would say a good 10 – 12 of us?  Plus blogger Claire.  Anyone else?!

Chicago will be marathon #10 for me.  Wow!  When I first contemplated this marathon thing 5 years ago, I didn’t think that I would love it as much as I do.  I certainly didn’t think that I’d ever run 10 of them!  Guess I better get through #9 (Lansing) first though, huh?

Anyway, I am SUPER excited about running Chicago Marathon.  I LOVE Chicago.  I’ve been there 4 times: once with my parents and sibs as our last “family trip” before I got married; once on a solo getaway-from-stress-of-life-with-young-kidlets trip; once for a work function; once for a girls shopping/bar hopping getaway.  Chicago has so many special memories for me.  I can’t wait to run 26.2 miles through the streets of Chicago and spend time with great friends.  And with family (I believe my parents are coming!).  I will likely book a few extra days on the end of the trip and just hang out.  Love Chicago!

I have to admit the CROWD for Chicago seems crazy to me.  45,000 runners!  Yikes.  So far I’m only qualified for Corral C, which should put me ahead of about 35,000 of the runners, but still.  Hoping to get a faster time in Lansing which will put me in Corral B.  Might just end up making Chicago be about fun instead of about fast.  We’ll see.

248 days til Chicago!  🙂

    1. Awesome! I am sort of sad that I’m not doing Twin Cities again. I’ve done it every year since I started this marathon thing. I’m also bummed that it’s on the same day as Chicago, so I can’t even run the 10 mile or spectate. Good luck!
