Caramel Bars and Cab = a Great Friday Night!

Kicked the weekend off in style yesterday with some of these DELICIOUS Salted Caramel Chocolate Bars, which Susan blogged about last week (recipe here courtesy of Kitchen Runway).

I consider myself somewhat of a treat/dessert/yumminess connoisseur.  So when I say these bars are fabulous, you better believe they are fabulous!  Sinful tasting.  🙂 SO easy to make too.  In keeping with the nine treat theme that I established earlier this week, I ate 9 of these bad boys yesterday.   Seriously.  It was about 4 too many, but I could not stop myself!

And remember those 14 bottles of wine that we brought back from wine country?  Several of them were polished off last night with some neighbors.  Definite favorite was the 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Montelena (the vineyard from the movie Bottle Shock; great movie!).   The Salted Chocolate Caramel bars taste super yummy with red wine!  🙂

Also kicked the weekend off with a 7.3 mile run yesterday afternoon.  Doesn’t get much better than ditching work early on a 50 degree (and sunny!) Friday afternoon and running.  Woot!  The back felt somewhat better yesterday, but still has random pain/twitches throughout the day.  I feel like it was maybe caused by my core being weak.  I’ve really let everything (core, strength) go since Twin Cities.  Goal for the month of November and December (til Lansing Marathon training kicks off) is going to be to get my strength and core back, and to work on my (lack of) flexibility.   Ready, go!

Shout out to Chris the Runner who signed up for Lansing Marathon.  Woot!  I’m still waiting for confirmation, but I believe one of the speedy guys from my training group is also going to do Lansing.  Fun!

Happy weekend everyone!

I’m not a huge treat person, but those look amazing! If I was a good wife, I’d make them for Matt (who would probably eat them all in a day!)

Fun with the wine and neighbors! We had our first neighbor visit over drinks last night…two glasses of wine and I feel like I’ve been run over by a bus this morning. I think the surgeon broke my wine enjoying apparatus! What the heck? (Need to be able to run and get the metabolism fired up again, I guess)

I’ll be in Edina in 2 weeks for a night!!! Come visit me!

  2. Glad you enjoyed the bars! So sweet!
