That’s what the weather people are saying about last night’s/today’s/tonight’s snowstorm.
Ooodles of snow (I think we’ve gotten a good 15 inches so far). Temps in the single digits and dropping to sub-zero tonight. Winds 25 – 35 mph. One near miss with a car colliding into my vehicle when I went to pick up daughter. Son’s basketball game cancelled (yeah!). MSP airport closed. Bus service suspended. MN DOT advising zero travel tonight.
Sounds like a good day to skip the outdoor run, huh?
Wrong! You knew I’d do it, didn’t you? Even though I didn’t need the miles, and technically needed a rest day, I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to say I ran in the Minnesota Blizzard of December 2010 (let’s hope this is the only one!). So I layered up, laced up and hit the road. And ran (if you can call an 11:08 pace running). Around the neighborhood, one loop (I’m sure the neighbors think I’m certifiable). And I was winded. It was hard, trudging through the unplowed snow. Little snow pellets were flying into my eyes and blinding me. It was only 3/4 of a mile, but it was something. 30 years from now when people talk about the blizzard of December 2010, I can say it didn’t stop me from running! Yipee!
Running today was not easy but tomorrow will be worse so it had to be done.
The blizzard was insane! Finally sunshine cleared roads:) I felt like I was trapped…even though I went a few places yesterday. Running should be okay today on the roads. I think it will take a day or two for the park service to clear Maple Grove’s running trails around Rice Lake.
Have a wonderful week!
Just found my way to your blog and wanted to drop a quick note to say hello. As a pseudo-lawyer (as in, I went to law school and passed the bar but never actually practiced!), I love the title.
Kudos on getting out for a run in those conditions. It’s 50 degrees and pouring in Philadelphia today, and I stuck to the treadmill.
By the way, whenever the game gets rescheduled, I hope your Vikings beat the pants off the Giants this week 🙂
YOU ARE HARDCORE. You couldn’t pay me to go out in that let alone run. You are my hero. Be careful and drink lots of hot chocolate.
